Call for Papers to National Conference on Media Ethics

Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Department of Languages and Mass Communication is going to organize a ‘National Conference on Media Ethics’ on the 19th of December, 2022 (that is, 4th of Paush 2079 B.S.). This conference is a national event, organized to provide a national platform for academicians, researchers, media professionals, media critics, and students to share their research works with experts in the field.
The conference theme and sub-theme has been confirmed this year as following:

Thematic area:

  • Theoretical perspectives on media ethics
  • Role of media during upcoming federal and provincial elections in Nepal
  • Role of Press Council for promoting professionalism
  • Ethics in traditional mass communication media and new media
  • Community radio and ethical issues
  • Ethics and social media
  • Fake news, misinformation and disinformation
  • Comparative analysis on ethical practices in Nepal and abroad

We invite research papers to the conference addressing one or more thematic areas mentioned above.

Deadlines:

  • Submission of tentative topic: 7th of November, 2022 (that is, 21st of Kartik, 2079 B.S.)
  • Submission of abstract: 12th of November, 2022 (that is, 26th of Kartik, 2079 B.S.)
  • Submission of full paper: 12th of December, 2022 (that is, 26th of Mangsir, 2079 B.S.)

The tentative topic may include title and subtitle too. The abstracts should not exceed 200 words. The full papers are expected to be within 3000-5000 words limit excluding references and appendices.

The selection panel of the conference committee will consider all abstracts received by the published deadline for selection process and notifications will be sent out to the authors of the selected article for presentation at the conference. The full version of the presented papers will be reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research depth, accuracy and relevance, and will be published in ‘Bodhi’, an interdisciplinary journal, being published by the Department of Languages and Mass Communication, School of Arts, Kathmandu University, since 2007.
