Application Guidelines

A: Know about the program you are interested in:
Explore the programs you are interested in via School’s website and brochures.

B: Submit your Application
 1.     Check your eligibility

For Bachelor in Media Studies, Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in Community Development, and Bachelor in Yogic Sciences and Wellbeing:

Applicants must have a minimum 10+2 or equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized institution with a minimum aggregate 45 percent or 2.0 CGPA. Applicants who have appeared in their final exams for qualifying degree but are waiting for their results can apply for provisional admission. However, they will have to produce proof of having passed the exam within a month from the day the classes start.

For Masters in Media Studies and Master in Urban Studies:

Eligibility: Completion of at least a 3-year Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 out of 4.0 or an equivalent of 50 percent marks in the latest degree acquired will be the basic criteria for admission. Also, securing acceptable results or ranking in the entrance exam will be essential. The entrance exam will test the candidate’s language proficiency and analytical abilities.

For Master in Media Studies, candidates with a minimum of 10 years professional experience in the associated field will require a minimum CGPA of 2 out of 4 or 45 percent.

2.     Prepare application materials
Application letter (motivation letter)
A CV/resume
Copy of Citizenship Certificate or National ID or Passport
PP-size Photos
Transcripts (School level, 10+2/A-level or equivalent, and Bachelor’s or above for Master’s degree applicants).
If you are waiting for your final year’s results, you may submit certificates and mark sheets until the previous exams.
Certificates of all previous degrees.
Migration Certificate (original hardcopy to be submitted to Admissions Office post-admission)

3. Pay the application fee
Before you start your application. Pay NRs. 1000 to the following accounts and get the voucher:

Find School of Arts, Kathmandu University in the search box. And select Application fee. Save a soft-copy/screenshot of the payment voucher from eSewa.

Information for international applicants

4. Download and print the application forms:

5.     Fill up all mandatory fields in the application form.
6.     Send all the required documents, including payment proof and application letter (motivation essay) to: soa_admission@ku.edu.np or submit in hardcopy at the Admissions Office, Hattiban.

C. Appear in the Entrance exam (written and interview)

  1. You will receive sample questions once you submit your application
  2. You will get information about entrance exams via email
  3. Contact the admissions office if required.

If you get selected,

D. Apply for admission

  1. Fill up the admission form as provided.
  2. Include all the documents as said.
  3. Pay the admission fee.
  4. Submit physically or send scan copies via email.
