Admissions for Bachelor in Music
The Department of Music of Kathmandu University announces opening of admissions for four-year Bachelor Program in Ethnomusicology (BMus) for the coming academic year 2025.
The programme emphasizes on training competent musicians and ethnomusicologists to document, preserve, and work creatively with the endangered musical traditions of Nepal. The entire course is highly participatory and students are expected to take an active role in the preparation and leading of class discussions.
Eligibility:
Completion of a 10+2 or equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized institution with at least 40 % marks/ or CGPA: 1.6.
Duration: Four years
Form Distribution (online or hard copy): June 25 to August 22, 2025
Last date for form submission: August 22, 2025
Entrance Exam: August 24, 2025
Recital and Interview: August 25, 2025
Admissions of selected students: August 26 to September 7, 2025
Orientation: September 7, 2025
The new semester will begin on September 15, 2025
Admissions for MA in Music
The Department of Music of Kathmandu University announces opening of admissions for two-year Master Program in Ethnomusicology (MMus) for the coming academic year 2025.
The programme emphasizes on training competent musicians and ethnomusicologists to document, preserve, and work creatively with the endangered musical traditions of Nepal. The entire course is highly participatory and students are expected to take an active role in the preparation and leading of class discussions. This programme is a research degree and will require students to conduct an independent and original research project and submit a written dissertation during the final year.
Eligibility:
Completion of Bachelor in Ethnomusicology or equivalent Bachelor degree from any recognized intuition.
Duration: Two years
